The Vampire Diaries are slowly killing me
Okay, as I promised, a spoiler filled review. If you don’t want to know what happens STOP READING NOW. You have been warned.
Well the opening credits already have me tearing up. A reminder of Jenna’s death and Damon trying to make his peace and give himself to the sun. Dammit Damon! DON’T GO INTO THE LIGHT!!!
HA, and Stefan swoops in and saves the day. Of course, his determination to fix things has set him on a path to find a “miracle cure” for wolfy bites. But the miracle might cost Stefan his hard won sobriety, if he goes ahead and makes the deal with Klaus.
And of course tonight’s the night Caroline’s mum decides it’s time to go on a killing spree, and take out all the vamps, but instead only ends up killing Jeremy. Luckily his sisters 2 BFFs are a witch and a vampire, incidentally the witch is also his GF. After a failed attempt by Caroline to resuss using vamp plasma, damn mummies wicked awesome marksmanship, Bonnie and Alaric sweep Jeremy off to the Witchy Spot (there be Witchy Ghosts here) for a miracle cure. Little do they know…
Earlier that evening Poor Stefan had already dragged our dear Bonnie to the Witchy Spot to beg a cure for his brother, but Emily’s ghost resides in the Witchy Spot, and we know how much she luuuuurves the Salvatore brothers! So sadly they were rejected with a a whole shpeil about balance and nature and yada yada yada…. but Bonnie uses her witchy mojo against the ghosts of witches past, and gleans one little factoid, the cure lies with Klaus. Well of FREAKIN course it does! And now the witchy ghosts are pissed and not inclined to deliver life saving mojo to our boyo! CRAPPOLA! That is, until Bonnie declares her lurve for the boyo, and the witches, who are, after all also women, cave and bring him back… awwww…. BUT there will be consequences!
MEANWHILE back in the land of Damon’s losing his crackers due to wolf juice, the proverbial hath hit the fan. While everyone was distracted by Jeremy doing the whole dying thing, Damon has hit the pavement to search for Elena, because it seems his dying wish is to be near her… can I plz get an AWWWWW. When she finally finds him, he has hit full on delusions, and thinks she’s Catherine (which is, for the record, the one thing I actually believed was going to happen – but I think I did call the whole Klaus cure thing earlier… sorry sidetracked) he gives her a little love bite, whilst reliving his time as a human, lusting after Catherine, and her vampy blood. He realises that, although he has been blaming Stefan for years, his choices led him to his Vampirehood, he wanted to spend an eternity with Catherine, and everything that meant. He could have said no, he could have walked away.
I think this is what give Damon some form of closure, Eleana gets him home and into bed, and holds him while he hurts… and can I just say, what I wouldn’t give! mm mm mm… but anyway, they share a peaceful moment alone, Damon tells her how he really feels, that he knows she’s all about Stefan, but that he loves her, and she should know that.
So, back to Stefan, sitting in Klaus’ lair, with he and the lovely Catherine and the two faced Elijah… who BTW gets exactly what he asked for, a steak to the heart and a satin pillow next to the ones of his family members, all being kept in storage at Klaus’ weird whim… can’t see that coming back to bite him later *snicker* MORAL OF THE STORY be careful what you wish for.
Klaus shows Stefan that it is his blood that is the cure, the blood of a werevampwolf?… a vampere? a wolfpire?… whatevs. BUT the cost will be Stefan returning to his devilish human eating ways (throwback to the old Angel/Angelus thing, I know, right?) and journeying on in Klaus’ entourage when he tips his hat and moves on. And of course, ever the Martyr, Stefan is down with that, suffering for the sins he hath committed against his BROsef (see what I did there, I combined Bro, with Joseph… it’s 4am, sue me)
LITTLE DOES HE KNOW, he’s already been forgiven for that particular sin, by said BROsef, and his love, his heart, his all, is now smooching on the other brother… whoa! nice…
SO, Klaus gives the cure/freaky-hybrid-blood to Catherine and compels her to cure Damon… not knowing Damon has dosed her with vervain, and she can’t be compelled… OR DOES HE!!! Mwa ha ha, he is an evil genius isn’t he?
But Catherine, feeling she “owes him one” for the vervain, does indeed swoop in to deliver the cure, just in time to see the smoochy, put that in the memory bank for future manipulations, and sorta vaguely break the news that Stefan’s gonna be outta town for a while… da da da dum.
We close with out lil Jere, having a goodnight call with the misses Bonnie, and a joke with the man who I predict will be his father figure next season, but then, who should show up but the ghosts of girlfriends past! Anna and Nicky, in da house! Are they ghosts? Have they been resurrected? Are they hallucinations? Are they the consequences the witchy ghosts predicted? THEY’RE FRYING MY BRAIN!!!
So that is my take on the events of the season finale, I am way too tired to predict anything coherent for next season, I may come back to that tomorrow.
I will be counting the days until the boys are back in town, until then…
