Thinking for yourself, that hip new craze
Hey there all you guys and dolls!
I am here today to tell you about a little brain reboot I had today, thanks to a great day at uni and a visit from RBoi.
Do you ever get the feeling that your brain has gone into power-saving mode, like your computer, when you leave it on and don’t use it for a while? First the screen dims itself a bit, then the screen saver comes on, then the computer goes into sleep mode, only using enough power to keep from forgetting the things that haven’t yet been committed to long-term memory, but not doing much of anything else. WELL that is how I have felt lately, like my brain has stagnated, and I could not for the life of me figure out how to jump-start her!
Then, like a breath of cold air that sneaks down your back when you think you have the doona tucked in nice and tight, SCHOOL started (finally) and my rusty cogs started turning (with much protesting, but no sympathy). The dry sponge of a brain residing in my head was doused with water, which rolled off at first, but then my brain kicked into gear and started soaking it all up! Microorganisms! Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes! Gram Staining and Aseptic techniques! BRING IT! MA BRAIN IS BACK!
And, to top off this fine day, a visit from RBoi, who always gives me a jolt, and reminds me what it is to think for myself. You don’t realise how important it is to use your common sense, and come to your own conclusions, until you look at what allowing yourself to be led, against your common sense, can really do. Suicide cults, child/slave labour, and how polluted this world has become, all results of not thinking for ourselves, of not doing a little research and using our common sense to come to our own conclusion. When we let ourselves be lied to, and give others the power to make decisions on our behalf based on those lies, we are committing a very big injustice, against ourselves, and those who suffer at the hands of the people we give power to.
I think that I am very lucky that the universe sought fit to bring me into contact with such an interesting thinker, as my best friend. I would never have guessed at the potential of the world, or of the potential within myself if it weren’t for him.
I urge everyone, to think, and in doing so encourage others to think. I believe that if we all used our brains a little more, and exercised all of our positive emotions, like love, compassion, and empathy, as well as taking responsibility for our thoughts and emotions, the world would be on the fast track to something good.
PEACE LOVE AND HUNNICAKES! Now more than ever.
Bee
xoxo
